You have to kinda be in the mood for Purim. A part of me dreads the balagan chaos, the sugar, junk food highs, and the fact that hamentashen are never going to taste as good as sufganiyot. Another part of me knows that I may as well kick up my heels, have fun and party, because the energy on the streets of Jerusalem is infectious, and if you’re not wearing a silly hat, you feel a bit left out. The life lesson of Purim this year is – LET GO & GO WITH THE FLOW. And most importantly connect with your friends, your community and support those in need. At the end of the day, that’s what life’s about. Here are some of my highlights from Purim in Jerusalem, 2019.
Allowing children to choose their own costumes (homemade is my favourite) is part of the creative fun. As a parent, it’s not always easy to let go.
